Jardine Engineering Corporation (JEC) supplied labour, materials, equipment, tools, transport and all other resources to dismantle, dispose, design, supply and deliver a new chiller system to the Sheung Fung Street Market, a municipal market in Hong Kong.
Project Details
In addition to the provision of 2 sets of 180KW air-cooled chillers and 3 sets of new chilled water pumps to replace the existing disused air-conditioning system, the new chiller plant is monitored and controlled by a Direct Digital Control (DDC) system. This system enables the chillers and pumps to be controlled locally, remotely, or through an operator workstation which can start/stop the equipment according to the programme and commands of an automatic control system.
Energy Saving Properties
Power consumption, enthalpy of chilled water, and the co-efficient of performance of each chiller are closely monitored by the DDC system to optimise chiller performance. After determining the building load, the system ensures the chillers run at optimal capacity with the highest possible co-efficient of performance using the load shedding method to meet the building’s requirements whilst saving energy.
