JEC Singapore installed the Biosafety Level 2 (BSL2) compliant Air-Conditioning and Mechanical Ventilation (ACMV) system for the bioengineering laboratory at the National University of Singapore (NUS).
The BSL2 compliant system uses chemical resistance ducting and fans, and has panic buttons to purge the laboratory in the event of an emergency. The bio cabinets and fume hoods are connected to the exhaust systems to extract contaminents. It also uses Venturi valves to maintain the desired air pressure in the laboratory within a short response time.
The 1500 square metre laboratory belonging to the Mechanobiology Institute, Singapore, is part of the NUS Faculty of Engineering’s T-Laboratory. Through close supervision and effective resource planning, this fast track project was completed within a tight time frame of four months.
