1923

Jardine Engineering Corporation (JEC) is established on 15th February, headquartered in Shanghai with branches in Beijing, Tianjin, Wuhan and Hong Kong.

1924

JEC is the first fire services contractor, completing the China Building in Hong Kong.

1930

JEC installs its first lift in Tianjin, China.

1931

JEC installs the first commercial air-conditioning system in Hong Kong at King's Theatre.

JEC installs Hong Kong's first Schindler lift.

1934

JEC Thailand is established.

1936

In spite of the Sino-Japanese War, JEC continues to provide design, construction, supply and installation of an electrical power plant and water distribution systems for Nanchang.

1937

JEC's Shanghai foreign settlements, lift production workshop, and many other facilities are bombed and destroyed during the war.

1939

WWII commences and many JEC staff leave to join the military forces. The British government requisitions ships from all firms and in 1941 many staff in Hong Kong and Shanghai are either interned or become prisoners of war.

1940

JEC is the first to market fluorescent tubes and novel fittings, quickly followed by I.E.S. fixtures - a system of diffused lighting.

1949

The China branch is closed and trading links maintained through China state agencies in Hong Kong and through direct contacts.

Hong Kong's first major industrial air-conditioning plant is established in To Kwa Wan, comprising four compressors with 600 tonnes of refrigeration capacity.

1950

Hong Kong becomes the new headquarters of JEC.

1965

JEC installs the first automated ten-pin bowling equipment in Hong Kong.

1970s

JEC provides building services systems to the Excelsior Hotel (the first hotel with over 1000 rooms) and Jardine House (Connaught Centre), then the tallest building in Hong Kong.

1974

JEC starts a 25-year successful partnership with Chubb for the security business in Greater China.

1979

JEC participates in the construction of the environmental control system for the Kwun Tong Line, the first urban metro line in Hong Kong.

1980s

JEC installs postal mechanisation facilities at the Airport Mail Centre, General Post Office and International Mail Centre. The Project was the largest of its kind in the region at the time.

1981

JEC installs the building services system for Hopewell Centre, the tallest building in Hong Kong at the time.

1982

JEC participates in building the largest secondary sewage treatment plant in Hong Kong at the Sha Tin Sewage Treatment Works Stage 1.

1983

JEC installs Hong Kong's largest cement storage & handling terminal on Lamma Island.

1984

JEC Thailand installs the air-conditioning system at Central Plaza Lad Phrao, Thailand's largest shopping complex at the time.

JEC installs the largest automated vault storage and retrieval system in the Main Treasury of the HSBC Bank in Hong Kong.

1985

JEC forms a joint venture with Trane in Hong Kong.

1987

JEC installs the document handling system at the National Library of China in Beijing, one of Asia's largest libraries.

1988

JEC Thailand completes the air-conditioning system for Terminal 1 at Bangkok International Airport, with a total cooling capacity of more than 6,000 TR.

JEC starts a 18-year joint venture relationship with Thorn Lighting.

1991

JEC forms a joint venture with Trane in Thailand.

JEC starts a 10-year partnership with Meidensha to develop the electrical switch gear business in Hong Kong and China.

1993

JEC Thailand delivers the air-conditioning system for the Thai Military Bank's new head office at Chatuchak, and the Sheraton Grande Laguna in Phuket.

JEC starts a 10-year partnership with Caterpillar in Taiwan to complement the dealership of Caterpillar engines and equipment in Hawaii, Guam and the Pacific Islands.

1995

JEC installs secondary sewage treatment facilities for the first time in Southest Asia inside a cavern at Stanley, Hong Kong.

1996

JEC designs and builds Hong Kong's largest fully mechanized slaughtering system at Sheung Shui, Hong Kong. It has a capacity to process over 5,500 pigs, cattles and goats a day.

1997

JEC Macau is established in November.

1998

JEC installs Hong Kong's first railway platform screen doors along 20 platforms in MTR's Airport Express and Tung Chung lines.

JEC Philippines is established in April.

JEC Singapore is established in June.

JEC installs fire doors in HACTL's SuperTerminal 1 at Chek Lap Kok, Hong Kong, the largest cargo terminal in the world.

1999

JEC Thailand installs environmental control and tunnel ventilation systems for Thailand's first MRTA (underground railway) stations S19, S20, and S21.

2000

JEC introduces Hong Kong's first X-ray screening system for trucks weighing up to 60 tonnes at Lok Ma Chau border control.

2001

JEC supplies and installs E&M equipment for the upgrade of Sha Tin Sewage Treatment Works and Shek Wu Hui Sewage Treatment Works. The project enhances and extends the treatment capacity of Sha Tin secondary treatment facilities, the largest secondary sewage treatment works in Hong Kong.

2004

Jardine Distribution spun off from Jardine Davies, becomes a subsidiary of JEC focusing on marketing and distribution of agriculture and construction products.

2005

JEC Thailand installs the air-conditioning and plumbing systems for the Siam Paragon Project, Bangkok's largest shopping centre at the time, with a total cooling capacity of more than 11,000 TR.

JEC launches the Outstanding Engineering Project Award (OEPA) to encourage future engineers to develop new ideas and embrace innovative technologies that enhance the engineering industry.

2006

JEC Thailand installs the world's first and largest radiant floor cooling system at Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok.

JEC has been awarded the Caring Company Logo in view of its voluntary work, employee-friendly policies, employing the vulnerable, caring for the environment and giving to the community.

2007

JEC Macau installs the first high-security cash handling system for the MGM Macau casino.

2008

JEC Thailand builds co-generation plants at the Government Office Centre Complex and the Energy Center in Thailand.

2009

JEC operates and maintains electrical & mechanical equipment for over 100 million square feet of facilities in Asia.

JEC Singapore designs, supplies and installs the world's largest operable partition wall system at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore.

2010

JEC improves Hong Kong International Airport's baggage handling system, the most extensive upgrade works of its kind in an operating airport in the world.

2011

JEC is awarded the contract to supply the Combined Cooling, Heating and Power (CCHP) system for the South and North Substations in Shanghai Hongqiao Business District, Core Area Phase 1. This project is one of the largest scale CCHP projects in Shanghai to date.

2012

JEC acquires Thermal Pte Ltd, a specialist Air-conditioning and Mechanical Ventilation contractor which provides installation contracting and technical services in Singapore.

2013

JEC celebrates its 90th anniversary, achieving a new milestone.
